The committee on protection of consumer rights deceived in e-commerce business will submit a report to the cabinet within the next one month, pointing out the way to repair the damage. According to AHM Shafiquzzaman, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, e-commerce will be restored on the basis of the report. After a meeting at the Commerce Ministry's meeting room at the Secretariat on Monday (October 18th) at noon to decide what to do to protect the rights of consumers who have been deceived by e-commerce companies, he said the report would give recommendations on how all e-commerce companies can transact financially. There will also be the issue of bringing those under tax. "We have already made eight recommendations to protect consumer rights," he said. We will send these recommendations to the Cabinet in the next month. After sending it, we may get from the policy makers how to bring digital commerce policy or e-commerce into discipline from the highest level of government. Accordingly, the committee has representatives from the Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of ICT, Bangladesh Bank, especially some secret agencies. There are also representatives of e-Cab and CAB. We will sit down and work out how to move those issues forward according to everyone's direction.
